Creative journeys and hidden joys

Judy, my parents and I watched the Royal Pageant today... the ceremonial procession unlikely to be repeated in our lifetimes or indeed for a very long time at all. It was amazing to see London come alive with the sense of occasion, crowds gathered along the embankment and a thousand boats on the Thames.

Later, Judy and I helped my parents declutter the spare bedroom, and in so doing we came across a bundle of old photographs dating back to the 1950s and, amazingly, the invitation to attend Buckingham Palace in 1949 which was sent by King Edward VII to my Grandfather when he received his CBE.

My mother was seated by her Mother and the then Princess Elizabeth, seeing an empty seat next to my Mother, chose to sit right by her for the ceremony. It is one of her most beloved memories.

I created this composite image of two iris flowers from our garden at No 6 last week, a few days before we left.... it captures some of the colours that were emblazoned on the day today.

I had a little added value today...both from the B&B and from coverage of the Queen's Jubilee.

Firstly, at the B&B we made friends with a fabulous wire-haired terrier named Edith...she is a riot, all personality and desire to connect.

She was playing with us all through breakfast and then followed us up to our room for about an hour before we left for the day.

What a blessing! We had a doggy moment at the B&B after all...

Then, as if that wasn't enough to make us smile, during the BBC coverage of the Jubilee, there were all sorts of interviews with different people who were taking part on the water, the tugs, the Dunkirk little boats and the narrow boats and barges. While interviewing a couple on a barge, there...sat on the deck was a beautiful Keeshond...a Paddington look alike (only female and smaller) but...how wild...the only dog featured in the entire event and it was rare, Paddy's breed, like a little wink just for us.

Edith and Pads and the Jubilee!
Not bad...not bad at all.
