Open Windows...

So now we are staying in a fabulous B&B, the Waltons in Rose Hill, Dorking. Our bedroom looks out on a small meadow in which 9 or 10 Jacob sheep graze peacefully.

Leaving our house today was a curious mixture of exhaustion and a sense of accomplishment; the empty rooms as silent witnesses to our journey.

Sooty and the sweeps came down for a last feed, at least from us, and we will trust our buyers to take over their nurture.
Chapter 2 now begins...

Nicholas

We arrived yesterday in a state of mild to moderate exhaustion, hauling 9 suitcases of various sizes (all under the required 50 lbs required by QM2) and fell asleep in an incredibly comfortable bed with high-count Egyptian linen cotton sheets and feather pillows which are a perfect blend of support and comfort.

This will be our home for the next 9 days.

Imagine my surprised delight when I saw this at 6 o'clock this morning...

I mean...really?

Cunard to United States and Canada coaster propping open the window at our temporary place of restoration and respite. Perfect.

The other great gift here at The Walton's is the sound of the St Martin's church bells which ring every 1/2 hour. Before we purchased our first home here in Dorking, when Nicholas was renting on Dene Street, we heard these bells for the first time. And now they serve as a glorious benediction to what can only be called a remarkable season filled with gifts we could never have imagined.
