Living here in Dorking, we have the good fortune to be within ten minutes walk of the town centre and yet within five minutes drive of the Surrey Alps, the highest hills in South East England, where standing on Leith Hill at 965 feet you can survey much of the South East and see as far as the South Down hills which form the coast.
There is a fabulous stand of old Scots Caledonian pines up there and trails that go for miles in the woods and, if my history is correct, the whole of the South East was covered in trees in ancient times.
Every winter, we are visited by huge flocks of Fieldfares and Redwings migrating over from Scandinavia for a few months. Sitting here in the conservatory at dawn in January, hundreds of the birds overfly our house on their way to the fields outside town, but now, in April, they have returned and the skies are quieter.
Today we will resume our inventory, sorting out the junk from the keepers and attempting to make our shipping to the US a more or less ordered experience. With 59 days to go, time is gathering pace and there is much to do.

While this blog is all about staying in the moment I am in...this morning all I can think about is this...
One week from today I will wake up in Scotland with my Nicholas, my husband, my beloved Anam Cara!
Anam Cara is Gaelic and translates as "friend of the soul".
Next week will be on Iona, our beloved island in the Hebrides, the place of our meeting.
How an actress from NYC and a physician from Oxshott, Surrey in England ever met and knew they had found the loves of their lives on that tiny little speck of land, with only 72 hours shared, will forever be a source of wonder for me...
Although this photo is of us on the island of Skye, it reminds me of the joy we share in Scotland...the majestic beauty on its soil, and the deep healing it has provided for us both.
